Menahem Pressler - Piano Concert, Masterclass and
photo signing - May 4th, 5th, 2006

It’s not every day that a living legend,

such as Menahem Pressler, walks

through the doors at Hammell Music,

so we chose to celebrate the occasion

in true Hammell Music fashion.

Well over 250 people attended a

stunning performance Thursday

evening, enjoying a program that

included Mozart (a celebration of

250 years), Beethoven, and Schubert.

His touch on the keyboard is smooth

and sensitive, giving a tremendous

dynamic range to his playing.  One

gets the feeling, that if the Composer

of the piece had been in the room,

they would think " . . That's how I

meant for it to be played . . "

The concert was followed by a lively

reception featuring desserts and

champagne.

Friday morning brought us a
Master Class to remember.
Three tremendous students
received invaluable tutelage
from Mr. Pressler, honoring
his legacy as one of the
premier educators in the
world.

Lastly, Menahem was kind enough to
autograph a poster size photograph that is
featured on our Steinway Artist’s wall here in
the showroom, placing him in the ranks of
Van Cliburn, Horowitz, and other legends of
the piano.
